Glen A Wilson Air Quality Update
By Scott Chan
There have been some big and exciting developments on our air quality project with Glen A. Wilson High School in Hacienda Heights. Similar to our air project at Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra, we are educating, engaging and empowering local high school youth to do something about the fact that their school sits within 100 feet of a busy freeway (the 60 fwy in this case). Most recently we have solidified partnerships with the Kiwins club on Wilson campus, the Health Science Dept of Cal State Fullerton (CSUF), as well as the Center for Asian Pacific American Studies (CAPAS) at Pitzer College. Our goal over this next semester is to work directly with the Kiwins youth on an air quality/environmental justice curriculum, while also brainstorming and advocating for larger changes that need to happen to have cleaner air at the school. Stay tuned for some major updates soon!
